🌌 SHIFTING THE FRAME · SHARED SKY

The Borderless Night Sky

Under the same stars, people from different places have drawn different pictures. Choose a sky and watch each person’s line rise to the same points of light: the San, ancient Egyptians, Sotho–Tswana farmers, Yoruba astronomers and the modern IAU chart all mapped the same stars to navigate, tell stories and track seasons.

People of different ages gather around a small fire on a savanna, all looking up at the Milky Way.
Different people. One sky. The points never moved.
Whose sky?

Egypt: Sopdet/Sirius and the Nile flood, Sah/Orion (Clagett; Wells). San: the three zebras (Orion’s belt) and the Pleiades in the Bleek & Lloyd record (Hollmann). Sotho–Tswana: Selemela planting stars (Snedegar). Yoruba: record is thinner and is labelled so. IAU: Delporte 1930. The people are AI-generated illustrations of people in these places, not depictions of specific individuals; the threads are schematic.
