We Are Stardust & Soil

Every atom in your body was forged in a different kind of star: the Big Bang, a dying red giant, a supernova, a white dwarf that detonated, a pair of colliding neutron stars. Pick a star below and watch its explosion throw those atoms across space and into a body. Then hover the body to see what each one does in you.

Five kinds of star, five ways to make an element

Body mass fractions: standard physiological references (O 65%, C 18.5%, H 9.5%, N 3.2%, Ca 1.5%, P 1.0%, Fe ~0.5%). Nucleosynthesis attributions follow the modern picture: H from the Big Bang; C and N from red giants (AGB stars) and massive stars; O and Ca from core-collapse supernovae; Fe from white-dwarf (Type Ia) explosions and massive-star cores; some heavy traces from neutron-star mergers. The star images are AI-generated illustrations, not telescope photographs, and the explosions are schematic.
